The 49th Amsterdam International Go Tournament
a European Go Federation bonus points tournament (level C) - Thursday, May 21 – Sunday, May 24, 2020

Cancelled due to Covid-19 (Corona Virus)

As the Dutch government had forbidden all events until June 1st, the Amsterdam Tournament 2020 will be cancelled.
All participants who have already paid will get their money back in the coming weeks.
We hope everyone will be safe in these trying times, and we hope to see you all next year at the AIGT 2021!

The Dutch Go Association and the Amsterdam Go Club are proud to announce the 49th Amsterdam International Go Tournament. For this year, we managed to find a very nice and fresh location in the heart of Amsterdam.

With its first edition taking place in 1971, this is one of the longest running go tournaments in Europe. The tournament is held over 4 days, starting on Ascension day, with a long time setting of 90 minutes per person, per game. This year, it takes place in Amsterdam in the Cygnus Gymnasium, Vrolikstraat 8, 1091 VG Amsterdam in a lively neighbourhood with lots of restaurants and pubs, centrally located and with very good access to public transport.

Main Event

7 rounds McMahon, 90 minutes + 1 x 30 seconds byo-yomi. Japanese rules, 6.5 komi. (€600 main prize)

Registration and the first round take place on Thursday. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday there are two rounds per day.

Rob van Zeijst 7d, multiple-times European champion, will be the official commentator of the tournament: during the entire event he will provide game commentaries. Feel free to approach him during the breaks of the tournament to review your game.

The European Grand Prix is a series of tournaments that takes place from 1st of January until the 31st of December each year.
The idea of the Grand Prix is to have a system honouring / measuring the performance of active Go players.
The EGF uses the results of the Grand Prix as the main guideline whenever the EGF has the right to nominate players for international events in the Far East
